Frank gehry's sculptural thousand oaks home sells for $2.45m

In a stunning architectural coup, Frank Gehry's landmark Sirmai-Peterson House in Thousand Oaks, California has been sold for a cool $2.45 million, without ever officially hitting the market.

Hidden gem

Commissioned by Mark Peterson and his late wife Barbara Sirmai in the early 1980s, the 2,300-square-foot concrete retreat was designed by Gehry and his then-partner Greg Walsh as a series of abstracted structures arranged around a central courtyard.

The result is a one-of-a-kind abode that features soaring interiors with slate floors and Douglas fir ceiling beams, along with a unique entrance accessed via a bridge-like pathway flanked by a water feature.

Located on 2.3 acres, the property also boasts a guest house added in 1996 by designer Brian Murphy, bringing the total living space to over 4,500 square feet.

This sale marks the first time the Sirmai-Peterson House has changed hands since Gehry's passing in December at age 96. The agents behind the sale were Brian Linder and Rick Grahn of Compass.
