Panera bread introduces affordable mix & match menu

By Richard Davis

In today's economic climate, consumers are increasingly mindful of their spending. Fast-casual dining chain Panera Bread is responding to this trend with the launch of its new Mix & Match Menu, the company's first-ever value offering. Announced on Wednesday, the menu allows customers to select from 10 popular items, each priced at just $5.

What

What's on the mix & match menu?

The new menu features a variety of options to satisfy different cravings. Customers can choose from:

  • Sandwiches: Toasted Italiano, Toasted Caprese Focaccia, Bacon Turkey Bravo, Cranberry Walnut Chicken Salad
  • Salads: Fuji Apple Chicken, Ranch Parm BLT, Caesar
  • Soups: Creamy Tomato, Homestyle Chicken Noodle, Bistro French Onion

Guests can build their meals by selecting two or more items in combinations like half-sandwich, half-salad, and a cup of soup, along with a side of baguette, chips, or a fresh apple. This new menu aims to provide a satisfying and affordable meal option for individuals and families alike.

Panera's new value menu: a closer look

While the Mix & Match Menu shares similarities with Panera's existing “You Pick Two” option, there are key distinctions. The “You Pick Two” menu offers the same portion sizes but allows customers to choose from the entire menu, with a limit of two items and higher price points. The Mix & Match Menu offers more flexibility and affordability, allowing for combinations of up to 10 items.

A deal that's actually a meal

According to Mark Shambura, Panera's chief marketing officer, the Mix & Match Menu is designed to provide a substantial value. "With the Mix & Match Menu, Panera is introducing the first value menu of its kind—one that doesn’t require compromise and makes it easy for guests to combine quality, craveable selections into a meal that truly satisfies at a great value," Shambura stated in a press release.

Savings for everyone

The new menu offers significant cost savings, particularly for those purchasing meals for more than one person. Customers can order up to 10 items, but the side remains limited to one per order. This makes it an attractive option for families, groups, or anyone looking to stretch their food budget without sacrificing quality.

Mix & match menu availability

The Mix & Match Menu is now available at participating Panera Bread locations nationwide. This strategic move by Panera demonstrates its commitment to providing accessible and affordable dining options in response to evolving consumer needs. It’s a welcome development for those seeking a delicious and budget-friendly meal.
