hello darlings! evie delaney here, fresh off a whirlwind press tour and completely craving some peace and quiet. and where better to find it than my beloved Margate? i recently had the absolute pleasure of spending a glorious Sunday with the incredibly talented emma corrin, and i just had to share their perfect itinerary with you. get ready to fall in love with this charming kent seaside town!

Morning delights: tides and toasties

my sunday started, as all good sundays should, with a walk on the beach as the tide receded. i’m a huge fan of the My Tide Times app – it’s a lifesaver! ditch the shoes, feel the sand between your toes, and let your inner child run wild. bringing a furry friend always adds to the joy! afterwards, it was off to either Big Shot or Curve for a coffee. curve boasts the best Kimchi Toastie in the entire world – seriously, you must try it.

Exploring the old town: vintage finds and literary gems

next up? a wander through the enchanting Old Town. this is where you’ll find a treasure trove of vintage and antique shops – you could spend days (and days!) browsing. i always pop into The Margate Bookshop. their selection is simply incredible, and their instagram page is a constant source of reading inspiration.

Lunch and local vibes: the george and heart

for lunch, i highly recommend The George and Heart. they have a fantastic menu with a rotating selection of pop-up chefs. their locally brewed beer, Perrin from Northdown Brewery, is a must-try. the atmosphere is always buzzing, and you’re guaranteed to make new friends – margate locals are the best!

A surprisingly fascinating afternoon: the crab museum

now, for something a little different! after soaking up the local atmosphere, we stumbled upon the Crab Museum. yes, you read that right – a museum dedicated entirely to crabs! it's surprisingly fun and incredibly informative. they even let you examine the local sand under a microscope to discover what’s lurking within. a truly unique experience!

Artistic inspiration: carl freedman gallery

no trip to margate is complete without a visit to a gallery. we headed to the Carl Freedman Gallery, run by the wonderful rob diament. this gallery showcases up-and-coming artists pushing creative boundaries. they currently feature the incredible work of Vanessa Raw, among others. a truly inspiring space!

Sunset serenity and dinner with a view

as the day drew to a close, we made our way to the seafront for a drink. Little Swift makes the most divine margaritas. for dinner, we indulged in tacos at Dive, run by the lovely kirsty and ben. their food is out of this world – i've been standing up eating their quesadillas for years! they’ve even opened a larger restaurant, High Dive, which is beautifully decorated. and the toilets? oh my goodness, the toilets! as the sun set, casting a golden glow over the harbour, we gathered to watch one of the most breathtaking sunsets i’ve ever witnessed. pure magic.
